2010 Continuing Education Classes Scheduled

NECA & IBEW Local 35 JATC will begin offering the required 2010 Continuing Education 7-Hour Course in February. Class dates have been set as follows:

Saturday, April 17, 2010                  Friday, April 23, 2010
Saturday, April 24, 2010
Saturday, May 15, 2010                   NIGHTS, Tuesday & Wednesday, June 1st & 2nd

All classes will be held at the I.B.E.W. Local 35 hall. Registration for day classes will begin at 7:15 am and class will be from 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. Registration for night classes will begin at 4:45 p.m. and classes will be from 5:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Continuing Education Audit

The State of Connecticut is performing a RANDOM AUDIT of licensed trades to see if license holders are attending the 7-Hour Continuing Education Course for 2009. If you receive an audit letter, you need to send in a copy of the certificate you received at the time you completed the course.

If you fail to reply, you will be charged a $250 fine by the State.

Fichman Eye Center "See Savings" Program

The Fichman Eye Center located in Manchester has offered Local 35 members and their families a 25% discount on select products and services including LASIK, premium cataract lenses, glasses and sunglasses. This discount may be applied to many services which are not covered by insurance.

There is no paperwork required. You only need to present the "See Savings Discount" card at the time of your first appointment to receive the savings. Cards are available at the Local 35 office. You may pick one up or call to have one mailed to you.

American Income Life Insurance Company Benefit Offered

I.B.E.W. Local 35 has teamed up with American Income Life Insurance Company to implement a $3,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefit, AT NO COST TO YOU. Your spouse will also be covered at $500 and children under the age of 19 will be covered at $500.

There are additional no-cost benefits available including the Health Service Discount Program and Child Safe Kits. You must return the reply card to receive these additional benefits.

You will receiving a package from American Income Life Insurance Company shortly. If you return the reply card, you will be contacted by a representative from American Income Life to discuss further coverage options. Otherwise, you are automatically covered by the no-cost benefit listed above.

Lost OSHA Cards

Effective immediately, anyone who has lost their OSHA card and requires a replacement will have to pay a $10 charge.

There has been an overwhelming number of members who have requested replacement cards. Due to the administrative cost associated with it, the JATC is imposing this charge.

Please put your certificates and completion cards in a safe place!
